Slick

We rolled in to Green River about 1am (Amy's sister is currently stationed there for Americorp), slept in the back of the rented 4runner (truck is in the shop getting a new computer which was damaged by rodents), and then woke up to this suprising view of a bookcliff.

It took 3 hours to ride from downtown Moab, up and around the Slickrock trail, and back downtown. It was only an 18 mile ride. The trail is rough, technical, and has many short climbs with grades between about 20 and 30%. You ride on 100% rock (the "slickrock" got the name from the early settlers who called it this because their horses shoes would slip on the stuff.) - the rock is something like 80 grit sandpaper and you can ride up angles you'd never think possible. The 69er makes it easier. This is the tourist trap of trails - some 100,000 people ride it each year apparently. Since we were out there, I had to try it. It was worth it.

Since some people like the self view..............

We checked out Arches National Park too.
